“This is one of a series of such spending by the EU aimed at promoting the so-called European values in non-EU countries, including post-Soviet countries such as Kazakhstan,” Shapovalov explained.

According to the political scientist, this is not about good intentions, “but about promoting the EU, imposing ideological concepts that are accepted in Europe, about bribing a certain part of the intellectual elite, public figures who should be on the side of the EU and implement those plans that the EU has.

“Kazakhstan is far from the EU, and it would seem that this Central Asian country has nothing to do with the EU.

But it is important that Kazakhstan is an ally of Russia within the CSTO, Kazakhstan is located between Russia and China, has very close and positive contacts with both countries, and this is what is important for Europe,” he concluded.

Earlier it became known that the European Commission intends to allocate up to €500,000 for an initiative whose main goal is to "promote and protect" fundamental freedoms and human rights in Kazakhstan.
