As a severe drought continues in the western United States, the water level of the lake has dropped, and bodies lying on the floor have been found one after another, the BBC reported on the 9th (local time).

According to the BBC, the remains of an unidentified body were discovered on the 1st of last month in Lake Mead, an artificial lake on the border of Nevada and Arizona.

The remains are believed to have died in the 1970s and 1980s.

Traces of gunshot wounds were found on the bones.

The remains were discovered by a group of people in a boat on the lake and reported to the police.

Inspector Ray Spencer, a homicide detective at the Las Vegas Police Department, told the local media that "the clothes and shoes worn on the victim's body were sold at K-Mart in the 1970s and 1980s."

Inspector Spencer told CBS in Las Vegas, "If the water level in the lake is lowered, more remains can be found."

His ominous premonition came true within a week.

On the afternoon of the 7th, the sisters who were passing by on a boat in the lake also found another remains.

The National Park Service confirmed that "the investigation into the remains is ongoing."

However, at this time, details of the body have not been released.

Las Vegas police said no criminal charges were found on the remains, but are investigating whether he was murdered or other suspicious circumstances.

Lake Mead was formed during the construction of the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River in the 1930s, and serves as a drinking water source for 20 million people from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, California.

The lake's water level has been declining since 2000 due to severe drought, and scientists believe climate change is playing a part.
