Pre-campaign Moreno appeals to achieve a sufficient majority to "not return to the starting point"
"People hug Juanma in the street, they want to take pictures with him."
This is how they explain in the Andalusian PP why Juanma (Moreno) is going to be, he already is, the
great protagonist
, almost the only protagonist, of the electoral campaign with which the
popular
want to repeat the feat of December 2018 and ensure four more years in front of the Board.
Beyond the
initials
, Juanma (Moreno) is today the best asset of the Popular Party in Andalusia and the
plumbers
of Calle San Fernando (where it has its regional headquarters) and those of Génova (where it has its headquarters) are well aware of this.
offices Alberto Núñez Feijóo's team).
And the Chairman of the Board himself knows it and says it publicly.
"It is easier to vote for Juanma Moreno than to vote for the PP", the leader of the PP-A released this Monday to Susana Griso on Antena 3.
That explains why the campaign that these same
plumbers
are designing is simply betting on the Juanma brand and the initials and the PP logo have been left in the background or even in the third place.
A campaign in the purest style of the one that Feijóo starred in Galicia in 2020, where he literally hid the acronym and
prioritized his brand
From him.
The result, absolute majority and fourth consecutive term as president of the Xunta.
Although Feijóo did not invent anything and there are other examples
of campaigns in recent political history
in which the initials practically disappeared.
The closest is the case of the mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, also from the PP and who has cultivated his personal brand like few others.
The most recent electoral polls show the good moment that the Juanma Moreno brand is going through, in which it invariably appeared as
the best valued
and at a considerable distance from its rivals.
The slogans that, for the moment, the Andalusian PP is using, are in this line.
At least one of the two that have already been launched: 'Juanma, Presidente'.
The other, 'Andalusia advances', affects the other great trick that the PP-A wants to play in these elections, the
management
that the executive has carried out.
So much so that the PP councilors are going to have a specific weight in the campaign and are going to tour the Andalusian geography asking for the vote.
They will do it to
sell
their management and also as candidates, since all, except Elías Bendodo, will be
head of the
provincial list, in such a way that the government will be an electoral showcase.
Moreno himself, as decided yesterday by the Electoral Committee of the Andalusian PP, will lead the list for Malaga, while Carmen Crespo will do so for Almería;
Jesús Aguirre, for Córdoba;
Marifrán Carazo, for Granada, and Juan Bravo for Almería.
The general secretary of the PP, Loles López, will head the bill in Huelva and in Cádiz, Ana Mestre, current delegate of the Government of the Board.
The one who falls off the list and has caused the most surprise for it is the PP spokesman in Parliament,
José Antonio Nieto
from Córdoba .
Although the official version is that there was no place on the Córdoba lists -where there were already three men-, Nieto was one of the greatest references of
casadismo
in Andalusia.
This will be, is, a campaign that flees from
ideology
and that presents Juanma Moreno as the candidate who "solves problems", explain PP-A sources and in which the party is the least important.
Because the objective, they detail, is that even those who traditionally vote for another formation can choose the ballot headed by Moreno.
Especially those who voted for the PSOE in the last elections, those of December 2018, and now they are not so clear.
In fact, in the PP they say that they have detected an important group of
former socialist voters
who now "have doubts" and do not rule out choosing Juanma's ballot on June 19, over the PP ballot.
They are those who would be attracted to the "candidate of moderation", which is the profile that the leader of the PP-A wants to emphasize, the candidate that anyone, regardless of their ideology, could vote for because
he does not cause rejection
(almost) nobody and in opposition to radical political forces.
"The first step for someone to vote for you is not to generate rejection," they say in the PP and that premise is the one that candidate Moreno would more than fulfill.
Or, rather, the candidate Juanma.
It is, basically, an appeal to
the useful vote
, essential to achieve a sufficient majority so as not to have to be in the hands of Vox.
Fleeing from Castilla y León
If any resemblance to the Galician autonomic campaign is welcome, the slightest similarity with what was done, more recently, on the occasion of the elections in Castilla y León is seen
with horror
in the Andalusian Popular Party, which has proposed to flee from the model which led Alfonso Fernández Mañueco to an insufficient victory that left him in the hands of Vox.
That would fit what Juanma Moreno advanced this week: a campaign
focused on Andalusia
and without national interference and in which the regional barons of the PP are going to have a very low participation.
Due to the electoral acts organized by the PP-A,
regional leaders
such as Isabel Díaz Ayuso, Fernando López Miras or Fernández Mañueco himself will hardly parade.
It does not mean that none of them will appear between now and June 19, but the occasions will be few and in very defined scenarios.
There, the sources explain, where it is known that your profile and your message "will be well understood."
The one whose presence is assured, although it will not be a constant either, is the national president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo.
It is not yet known exactly how many times he will come, although the
first appearance
will take place next week, on Wednesday, at an event with businessmen.
In any case, the idea is that Feijóo and Moreno do not overlap in most cases and that when the national leader comes to Andalusia he does so in
separate acts
from the candidate for the Board.
