War in Ukraine Russia bombs a school-shelter in Donbas
The European Union on Sunday showed its dismay at
Russia's "blatant disregard" for
civilian lives shown by attacking a school in
Ukraine
used as a refuge in the
Lugansk
region in the east of the country.
The EU27 are "dismayed by the Russian airstrike on a school building in
Belogorovka
, Lugansk region, in which many children are reported to have died," said the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, on his official Twitter account.
"The EU condemns Russia's blatant disregard for civilian life and will support efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice," added the head of European diplomacy.
The school center
collapsed after the attack
and 30 people could be rescued, after which the regional governor of Lugansk, Serhiy Gaidai, maintained in a message through Telegram that the 60 people who are buried have probably died.

"Russia has forgotten everything that was important to the victors of World War II," Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky said on Sunday, on the eve of Russian commemorations of the victory over Nazi Germany.
Zelensky criticized in a video message the "violent bombings" registered in several regions of Ukraine, one of which killed 60 people in a school in the east of the country, "as if today were not May 8, as if tomorrow were not 9, while the watchword should be peace for all normal people."
"Ukraine and the free world will remember," he launched.

Russia launches deadly attack on shelter school as Ukrainians hold out in Azovstal
At least two people have been killed in a Russian attack on a school used as a shelter in the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine, with dozens missing.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian soldiers resist Russian attacks on the Mariupol steel mill.
