Abdirizak Waberi, former principal of Römosseskolan, was convicted in the district court for gross embezzlement and for serious accounting offenses.

According to the invoices, the money went to IT services, but the district court ruled that the work was never carried out.

The invoices also came from two companies that Waberi itself controlled.

He even approved them himself, on behalf of the school.

Decided to appeal

Abdirizak Waberi has always denied any wrongdoing.

During the trial, he claimed that money that the school would have used for IT services could be sent to Somalia because several people provided computer services and digitization for free.

Now he has decided to appeal the verdict in its entirety.

Submitted on Tuesday

-He is disappointed and thinks that he has fought very hard to get this school up and running and to make it work and make it one of the better schools in the area with a high level of digitization.

He thinks he is unfairly punished for putting his soul into this, says lawyer Allan Stutzinsky to GT.

The appeal will be formally filed on Tuesday, according to the newspaper.
