According to several media, a train derailed on Monday evening near Münchendorf, just under 20 kilometers south of the Austrian capital Vienna.
One person has died and 13 were injured, two of them seriously according to the local rescue service.
A large rescue operation is underway on the site and train traffic on the section between Achau and Münchendorf has been temporarily stopped, the newspaper Krone writes.
When the train derailed, at least one car overturned and ended up in a field next to the track.
The cause of the accident is still unclear.
