According to the report, the number of vehicles registered in the “Hala” service application for electronic reservation of taxis reached 5,500 vehicles, to enable the service customers to book any taxi in Dubai through the application developed by Careem.

The innovative autonomous technologies developed by Careem were able to automatically distribute taxis to various locations in the emirate, based on demand. The taxis receive automatic reservation requests to go to the location, according to the required number of taxis every hour of the day.

In the context of providing advanced and fast transport services based on digital technologies, the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai concluded last October an agreement with the global company “Ali Baba Cloud”, a leader in the field of big data, with the aim of improving and developing the authority’s services in transporting passengers through various means of transportation. The Authority is implementing the City Brain project, which is expected to contribute to an increase in the number of public transport passengers by 17%, according to the authority’s estimates.

The number of users of mass transportation and shared transportation in Dubai, which includes the Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, public buses, marine transportation, and taxis, in 2021, reached about 461 million passengers, compared to 346 million passengers in 2020. The daily average of the number The users of mass transportation and taxis last year were about 1.3 million passengers, compared to about 948,000 passengers in 2020.

The Dubai Metro accounted for 33% of the number of users of mass transit, shared transport and taxi vehicles, while the percentage of public transport bus users was 25%.

37 km of bus and taxi routes within 5 years

The Roads and Transport Authority has approved a plan to implement a 37-km-long route for buses and taxis, during the period from 2023 to 2027. The routes are distributed over eight vital streets, namely Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the second of December, Amman, and Al Satwa. , Al Nahda, Omar bin Al Khattab and Naif, bringing the total length of private bus routes to 48.6 km.
