“Thanks to the unprecedented measures taken by the leadership of the Russian Federation with the active participation of representatives of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross, a humanitarian operation to evacuate civilians from the Azovstal metallurgical plant has been completed today,” Mizintsev said in a statement.

He noted that 51 people were rescued during the operation.

According to Mizintsev, qualified medical and psychological assistance was provided to all evacuees.

As Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said earlier, Russia regularly independently opens humanitarian corridors from Azovstal in Mariupol and without calls from Kyiv and UN Secretary General António Guterres.
