Today, Saturday, the Syrian News Agency (SANA) reported that an air attack targeted Hawija Kataa near the suspension bridge in the eastern city of Deir Ezzor, without specifying the nature and results of the attack.

And the "Jisr" news website - which is affiliated with the Syrian opposition in Deir Ezzor countryside - reported that two violent explosions were heard throughout the city of Deir Ezzor this morning, Saturday, coinciding with the flight of aircraft in the air.

The website added that the two explosions were caused by air strikes launched by aircraft on a bridge built by Iranian militias and regime forces earlier.

Hawija Kati’ is an island located in the middle of the Euphrates River that passes from the city of Deir ez-Zor, about 100 meters from the village of Al-Husseiniya in the north, from the suspension bridge in the west, and Al-Hawiqa neighborhood in the south. The area of the island is about 2 square kilometers only, and it is agricultural land.

The areas affiliated with the Syrian regime in Deir ez-Zor and the Al-Bukamal region (east) are witnessing a heavy presence of groups affiliated with Tehran, which are managed by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

The sites of Iranian groups in Syria have been repeatedly bombed by Israeli and American planes for years.
