At around 13:00 local time on May 6, an explosion occurred in a building in downtown Madrid, the capital of Spain.
Up to now, the explosion has injured at least 17 people, one of whom was seriously injured and was sent to the hospital for treatment. The buildings and nearby vehicles were damaged to varying degrees.
The blast site has been cordoned off, and local police and firefighters have arrived to look for more casualties in the building.
According to preliminary findings of the authorities, the explosion was likely caused by the explosion of gas heating equipment.
