Flights between Gimpo and Haneda, which have been suspended since March 2020, will resume from the beginning of next month at the latest.

A South Korean-Japanese diplomatic source said, "There is an agreement between the authorities of Korea and Japan to resume flights between Gimpo and Haneda from early June.

Major airlines in Korea and Japan, such as Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, JAL, and ANA, have also applied for resumption of flights between Gimpo and Haneda.

As the Gimpo-Haneda route resumes after two years and three months, it is expected that people-to-people exchanges between Korea and Japan, which have been blocked since the spread of COVID-19, will gain momentum.

Even after the spread of Corona 19, flights connecting Incheon Airport and Narita Airport were maintained, but the disadvantage was that the two airports were far from downtown Seoul and Tokyo.

Prior to that, the Korea-Japan policy consultation delegation dispatched by President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol to Japan met with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and others during their visit to Japan to reinvigorate the Gimpo-Haneda flight route, apply quarantine exemption upon entry, and restore visa waiver in order to vitalize people-to-people exchanges between Korea and Japan. I have proposed to do it.

Among them, the resumption of the Gimpo-Haneda flight route is the first to be realized.

A diplomatic source said, "I asked the Japanese side to exempt from quarantine when I entered the country," and "I think we will go in that direction without difficulty."

However, it is said that it will take some time to restore visa waiver.

Meanwhile, there is a possibility that Korea-Japan tourism, which has been suspended since the spread of Corona 19, will resume from next month.

The Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported that the Japanese government had begun a review to accommodate foreign tourists from next month.

It is said that the Japanese government will decide whether to accept foreign tourists after observing the Corona 19 situation for about two weeks after the Golden Week, a golden holiday.

First, a plan to allow group tourists to enter the country is discussed.

The Japanese government is considering a plan to increase the daily entry limit from the current 10,000 to 20,000.
