It was last weekend that the accident occurred in a village in Vindeln municipality.
Now the police tell more about the accident, where the four-year-old disappeared from the family farm.
- The parents immediately started looking for him, says Lundberg.
The police were called to the scene, but never had time to participate in the search operation.
- It was the parents who found him in the water, after a while.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was started immediately.
Why he ended up in the water is difficult to say, says Lundberg.
Police: Extremely tragic accident
The boy was taken by ambulance helicopter to Norrland University Hospital in Umeå and then on to Karolinska for treatment.
He later died of his injuries.
- It is an extremely tragic story, says Joachim Lundberg.
The police are investigating the accident further together with the National Board of Forensic Medicine.
POSOM group activated
On the same day, a POSOM group was activated in the municipality and a support center was established.
- There were about ten, says Johanna Persson, convener of the POSOM group in Vindeln.
On Thursday, the children at the preschool were informed that their classmate was no longer alive.
- It is terrible, says principal Johan Söderberg and continues:
- Not all children understand what death means, so this must be processed.
One question that has arisen is;
"Where do you end up when you die?"
Many children knew he was in hospital, but now he is no longer there, says the principal.
