“If the commission insists on accepting its proposal, it will have to bear full responsibility for the historic failure of European integration,” the Hungarian prime minister said in a message to the head of the EC.

According to Orban, neither Hungary nor the EU as a whole is ready to accept and implement the measures proposed by the European Commission.

He added that the sanctions would lead to further increases in energy prices "without any easing measures from the EU."

As previously stated by the head of the Ministry of Energy of Slovakia Karol Galek, the ban on Russian oil will destroy the European economy.

The Hungarian Foreign Ministry noted that Hungary's refusal of anti-Russian sanctions against oil and gas was dictated by the interests of protecting the country's energy security.
