This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the message of the office of the Prime Minister of Israel.

The Prime Minister accepted President Putin's apology for Lavrov's words and thanked him for clarifying the President's attitude towards the Jewish people and the memory of the Holocaust.

Earlier, the President of Russia spoke by phone with the Prime Minister of Israel.

Putin congratulated Bennett on Independence Day.

The parties called for the development of friendly relations between Russia and Israel.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in an interview with the Italian television company Mediaset, responded to the journalist's arguments that "Zelensky is a Jew", who "refutes" Russia's position regarding Nazism in Ukraine.

Lavrov, in response, stated that "he may be mistaken, but A. Hitler also had Jewish blood."

The minister noted that "this means absolutely nothing", and "the wise Jewish people say that the most ardent anti-Semites, as a rule, are Jews."

Later, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid demanded an apology from Russia because of Sergey Lavrov's statement.
