In his address, he noted that various year-round benefits are currently provided for long-distance trains for children under the age of ten: discounts up to 65% or free travel without providing a separate seat for the child.
At the same time, he clarified that schoolchildren aged 10 and older can receive a 50% discount on the ticket price from January 1 to May 31 and from September 1 to December 31.
At the same time, in the summer months, when families with children go on vacation to the southern regions, this benefit is not provided for children over the age of ten, Orlov added.
“In order to support families with children, as well as in view of the uncertain situation with air traffic to the southern regions, the reduction in air traffic with a number of resort countries due to the imposition of sanctions against Russian air carriers, I ask you to evaluate the feasibility of extending a 50% discount on train tickets for children older than ten years and for the summer months, ”the appeal says.
Earlier, the Ministry of Transport reported that sales of railway tickets to the southern resorts of Russia during the May holidays increased by 40% compared to the same period in 2021.
