Guinea: the FNDC presents the prosecutor with new evidence against Alpha Condé

In Guinea-Conakry, the FNDC filed Wednesday, May 4, a new series of evidence against the Alpha Condé regime, to the Attorney General to facilitate the task of the investigation.
The movement was at the forefront in the 2019-2020 crisis and the protests against a third term of the former president.
The group had filed a complaint against the former head of state and the bloody repression of the protest movement.
The Attorney General then opened an investigation against Alpha Condé and 26 other senior officials for assassination, torture or kidnapping.

In this second batch of evidence, we find in particular reports from several NGOs on the crimes committed by the former regime.
The National Front for the Defense of the Constitution (FNDC) has also collected additional documents, including death certificates of people killed
during the repression
.
The FNDC expects the prosecutor to examine
these new elements
, request additional investigations, find the families of the victims, confirm in the report what they have suffered, or even have the photos and videos of abuses examined to find the culprits.

For Me Vincent Brengarth, one of the lawyers of the collective, it is a question of bringing a maximum of elements to justice so that it establishes responsibilities.

The FNDC is also continuing its investigations and the filing of a third batch is possible.

," said the lawyer.
The collective says that it will monitor the attitude of Guinean justice very closely.
If the case is buried or politics gets involved, the FNDC does not rule out, as it did in 2020, seizing the International Criminal Court.
