US President Joe Biden said that the workers of the Lockheed Martin plant, which produces Javelin anti-tank systems, give Ukraine "the opportunity to defend itself", saving the United States from the risk of getting involved in a third world war.

“You are giving the Ukrainian people the opportunity to defend themselves without creating the risk of getting involved in the third world war by sending American troops to fight the Russian military,” Biden said.

“A big reason they can continue to fight, making this war a strategic failure for Russia, is the support they get from the US and our allies and partners.”

The head of the White House said that the United States had already sent 5,500 Javelin anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM) to Kyiv.

At the same time, speaking about these weapons, Biden made a reservation and stated that the United States allegedly sent Javelins to Russia.

In addition, he repeatedly got confused in other places in his speech, for example, he called the Ukrainian military "Hungarian".

According to the American leader, since the beginning of the special operation of the Russian Federation, Washington has transferred military assistance to Kyiv in the amount of more than $3 billion.

“Plus, significant deliveries from our allies and partners, as well as many thousands of other anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons, helicopters, armored vehicles, artillery, coastal defense systems,” Biden said.

He also recalled that last week he sent a request to the US Congress for the allocation of additional budgetary appropriations in the amount of more than $30 billion.

“In simple terms, he said that we need more money - to ensure that the United States can continue to send weapons directly to the front lines,” the American leader explained.

He also urged Congress to quickly approve these funds to help Ukraine.

At the same time, on April 28, the head of the White House told reporters that the United States and NATO are not involved in the conflict in Ukraine.

When asked whether what is happening on Ukrainian territory is a conflict between the States, the alliance and Russia, “which is already taking place,” Biden replied that “this is not true.”

"If only it would stretch longer"

Recall that in late April, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that NATO countries, including the United States, supplying weapons to Ukraine, are entering into a proxy war with Russia.

According to him, Western weapons are a legitimate target for the Russian Armed Forces, which are conducting a special operation.

“If NATO, in fact, goes to war with Russia through a proxy and arms this proxy, then in war as in war,” Lavrov said on Channel One.

According to the Russian minister, the West, including the United States, wants to “force Ukrainians to fight Russia to the last soldier” with these weapons.

“If only this conflict dragged on longer, if only, as they hope, Russia suffered from it more and more,” Lavrov said.

However, when transferring weapons, the leaders of the NATO countries, including Biden, declare that “the issue of sending troops” of the alliance is excluded, except for Poland, which proposed “some kind of peacekeeping operation in Ukraine, clearly being interested in sending its military personnel there,” recalled the head Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Meanwhile, in the United States, Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger introduced a joint resolution directing the involvement of the US Armed Forces in the defense of Ukraine in the event of the use of weapons of mass destruction by Russia against it.

The initiative was sent for consideration to the Foreign Affairs Committee of the lower house of Congress.

“Having established that the Russian Federation has used chemical, biological or nuclear weapons on the territory of Ukraine, the President of the United States is authorized to use the Armed Forces of the United States of America as he considers necessary and appropriate,” the document says.

It is also noted that the goals of Washington in this case would be “protecting the interests of the national security of the United States in relation to Ukraine”, as well as “assistance in the defense and restoration of the territorial integrity” of the Ukrainian state.

Kinzinger said he introduced the draft resolution to allow the use of military force "as a clear red line."

According to him, the United States must support its allies.

Earlier, the Russian Embassy in Washington called "groundless" the accusations of Deputy Secretary of State Bonnie Jenkins, who attributed to Russia the presence of undeclared chemical weapons and their use.

As emphasized in the diplomatic department, during the special operation, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation received at its disposal "irrefutable information about the preparation by the United States of provocations in order to accuse the Russian Armed Forces of using weapons of mass destruction in Ukraine."

“We call on Washington to change its mind and refrain from provocations that could lead to the death of tens of thousands of Ukrainian citizens and cause an environmental and humanitarian catastrophe,” the Russian embassy said in a statement.

"Instrument of profit"

As Konstantin Blokhin, a leading researcher at the Center for Security Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, noted, despite the fact that the United States is not directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine, they “actually fight there with the hands of Kyiv,” since they supply it with weapons.

“Obviously they are trying to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia in Ukraine.

Biden wants to allocate additional funds for military assistance to Kyiv.

But it is clear that not all weapons reach the Armed Forces of Ukraine, most of the weapons go to black markets, and then they are resold to other parts of the world, including Africa and the Middle East, since no one has canceled corruption in Ukraine, ”the expert stated in talking to RT.

According to Blokhin, Biden, stating that the workers of the Lockheed Martin plant give "Ukraine the opportunity to defend themselves", saving the United States from the risk of getting involved in a third world war, is silent about the fact that Washington wants to "stimulate its military-industrial complex" by supplying weapons to Kyiv.

“It is clear that many stocks of old weapons in the US and Europe will soon be exhausted, they will have to be replenished.

And this is a good reason to stimulate the military-industrial complex.

Ukraine has become a dumping ground for old weapons and a tool for profit for American arms manufacturers.

But Biden continues to beat his chest and declare support for Ukraine, ”the analyst emphasized.

In turn, military expert Alexei Leonkov has a similar point of view.

According to him, the conflict in Ukraine and the indirect participation of the United States in it through the supply of weapons provides the American military-industrial complex with the opportunity to "earn and create new jobs."

“The United States continues to enrich itself in military conflicts, not paying attention to the victims, and also wanting to weaken its potential opponents as much as possible.

The United States will fight with the hands of Kyiv to the last Ukrainian and make money from it, ”the expert said in a conversation with RT.

At the same time, according to Leonkov, the supply of weapons by the United States to Kyiv will primarily harm not Russia, but the West, since the weapons it supplies to Ukraine will then go through the black markets back to Western countries and will pose a threat in the hands of terrorists.

“Even in the United States itself, they are aware of this problem.

Thus, the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, recently admitted that it is difficult for Washington to monitor the fate of weapons that cross the border of Ukraine.

It is clear that if the US Secretary of Defense says this, then there are no guarantees that these weapons will not end up in the most unexpected places, ”the analyst said.

However, despite such costs, Biden's request for more than $30 billion, which includes spending on additional military assistance to Kyiv, is highly likely to be approved by Congress, analysts predict.

“Most likely, Congress will not go against the head of the White House here, since there is a bipartisan consensus in both chambers on military assistance to Ukraine,” Blokhin said.

At the same time, experts believe that the initiative of Congressman Kinzinger to involve the US military in the defense of Ukraine will not pass the congress.

“Washington does not want a direct clash with Russia.

The adoption of such a document would mean the beginning of a third world war, given that Washington has already groundlessly accused the Russian Federation of using WMD in Ukraine, although in fact it is the United States that plans to organize such provocations in order to lay the blame for them on the Russian Federation, ”said Blokhin.
