“It's a great mission, difficult for sure but never useless, says Marie-Claude Agullana, vice-president in charge of child protection in the Department of Gironde.

These are meaningful jobs.

Nearly 150 jobs are to be filled with the department at the moment as part of a major operation.

“We need professionals in the field, educators, family assistants, social workers but also agents in the administrative sector because it is also important”, explains the vice-president.

It is possible to apply online on the Department's website.

12,000 children followed

After the great noise made by the images shot clandestinely in 2019 in the departmental center for childhood and the family (CDEF) of Eysines for the show Pieces of conviction, measures have been taken.

In particular, the department has created smaller units for the children taken in and all the people recruited at the CDEF undergo compulsory training.

An in-house institute also provides career-long training.

The Department employs 1,900 professionals in the child protection sector, including 660 at CDEF.

About 12,000 children (from 8 days to 21 years old) are followed by the departmental services, of which 5,800 are placed in foster families, by court order.

A number that increases in proportion to the growth of the Gironde population.
