The objects were affixed to coats of arms displaying the motto Liberty, Equality, Fraternity.
They had been installed in October 2021 as part of an operation set up to raise awareness on the subject of secularism.
The 45 kindergartens and elementary schools in the city were concerned.
A “mistaken” job
“I join the educational teams who are affected by these intolerable thefts.
Beyond the theft of these republican symbols, it is also the work of children around the value of secularism that is flouted, ”responded on Facebook mayor Caroline Cayeux (various right).
The elected denounces a “shameful” act.
According to a delegate of the parents of pupils, other degradations would have been noted.
