It is currently a very pressured situation in NU healthcare.

The number of patients is more than there are care places and the waiting times in the emergency room increase as a result of the overcrowding, as the wards cannot accept new patients.

Patients ready for discharge remain for too long

According to the hospital management, there are several reasons for the strained situation, but one reason is that patients ready for discharge remain in the wards for too long, waiting for a care place in the home municipality.

At one time, as many as 40 patients were ready for discharge at the same time, which corresponds to approximately two wards.

The number of care places in general is also lower than desired.

This is due to the strained staffing situation where the hospital has for a long time had difficulty recruiting care staff to the wards.

Hospital management in staff mode

The shortage of care places spans several wards at the hospital, and affects gynecological care as well as child and adolescent care as well as surgery and otropedia.

On Tuesday, the hospital management announced that they are going on standby, so-called staff situation, to get a better view of the situation, which they believe has escalated in the past two weeks.
