Agents of the

Local Police

of Valencia, members of the local fire department and the Provincial Consortium have carried out nearly

200 services

tonight due to the strong

downpour of water

that has fallen on the capital and some nearby towns.

A storm of very strong intensity causes

traffic problems, cuts in the metro and the tram

and small floods, leaving an accumulation of more than

200 liters per square meter

in 24 hours, the largest in a month of May since 1871.

The Local Police have reported that in just two hours they have attended

94 services

.

The water has forced

the cutting

of the Hermanos Machado tunnels (Ronda Norte);

Primate Reig/Pesset Aleixandre;

Clariano and Camino Farinos / Camino de Vera.

Precisely, the Emergency Coordination Center has insisted on the importance of

avoiding driving in an episode of heavy rain

, so it urges not to take the car unless it is absolutely essential.

The rain also affects other means of transport.

Metrovalencia

warns that, due to heavy rainfall, circulation is

interrupted

between Empalme and Llíria stations;

and between those of Alboraia-Peris Arago and Rafelbunyol.

Also in

València

, in the Malva-rosa, Cabanyal and Nazaret areas, the water is entering the ground floor of various homes in the Nazaret area.

The 112 has specified that a

storm cell

has been activated in the surroundings of the city of Valencia and that the Consortium Firefighters have carried out about 50 services, to which must be added a fortnight of the Valencia Firefighters.

They have consisted, for the most part, in

rescuing people

, flooded roads and bilge.

RESCUE IN PATERNAL

One of these actions has been carried out in the municipality of

Paterna

, where firefighters have rescued three people from a vehicle.

Everyone is fine.

The most significant records of

rainfall

in the last four hours, according to the Valencian Association of Meteorology (Avamet) are located in Valencia 107.3 mm;

Almassera (78.2);

Quart de Poblet, with 62.4, and Manises (61.4).
