Earlier, the opposition Conservative People's Party in Estonia suggested that parliament consider withdrawing the country's signature under the land and sea border treaties with Russia dated February 18, 2014.

The Russian embassy in the republic noted that Estonian officials' constant references to the Tartu Peace Treaty hinder constructive dialogue and ratification of the border treaty with Russia.

The diplomatic mission recalled that the agreement signed on February 2, 1920 became the legal basis for relations between the RSFSR and the Republic of Estonia, however, Estonia "lost the status of a subject of international law in 1940 due to joining the USSR", after which the Tartu Treaty lost its legal force, it is not in the register of international treaties of the United Nations.
