A person was brought out alive on Monday in China from the rubble of a building collapsed three days earlier, public television announced, while the hope of finding survivors is now slim.

The eight-story building, which housed a hotel, apartments and a cinema, collapsed in the city of Changsha on Friday for an as yet undetermined reason.

On Monday, national television CCTV showed footage of a person wrapped in a thick white blanket on a stretcher.

This is the eighth person extracted from the rubble of the building in three days.

Rescuers in blue outfits were busy in an ambulance for an evacuation to a hospital.

The channel gave no indication of the state of health of this 8th person found.

Nine people arrested by the police

According to the official Xinhua news agency, rescuers struggled to extract the victim, a woman, whose limbs were caught under debris.

The medical team used tubes about three meters long to administer saline solution to the woman, according to the agency.

The rescuers, who continued their search to find possible survivors, avoided using machines so as not to cause vibrations in the collapsed structure of the building.

About fifteen people remain trapped, while 39 others are unreachable.

On Sunday, a seventh person was found by rescuers more than 50 hours after the search began.

A one-meter wall then separated her from the rescuers, who had detected signs of life earlier, according to CCTV.

Rescuers had to make their way through the rubble.

In particular, they used circular saws to extricate several survivors.

Nine people, including the owner of the building, were arrested on Sunday in connection with the case.

They are suspected of having falsified a security audit, according to the official Xinhua news agency.
