Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen meets with Myanmar's top commander Min Aung Hlaing, who took control in the coup d'etat, and is the second special envoy of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to mediate dialogue between the military and the Democratic Party. He called for cooperation in visiting Myanmar and emphasized the importance of the special envoy meeting with Mr. Aung San Suu Kyi.

Prime Minister Hun Sen and Commander Min Aung Hlaing met online on the 2nd.

Cambodia is the presidency of ASEAN, and the deputy prime minister and foreign minister of Cambodia, Prak Sokong, is also the special envoy for the Myanmar issue.

The Myanmar Army accepted the envoy for the first time in March, but during his stay he was unable to meet the pro-democracy forces that resisted the army.

According to the Cambodian government, Prime Minister Hun Sen sought cooperation in the special envoy's second visit to Myanmar at the meeting and emphasized the importance of the special envoy meeting with all parties, including Mr. Suu Kyi.

In response, Commander Min Aung Hlaing has indicated that he will arrange visits between the special envoy and related parties, but it seems that he has avoided further details.

The Myanmar military has not allowed Suu Kyi to meet with a special envoy because he has been charged with corruption and is on trial.

In addition, the "National Unity Government of Myanmar" established by pro-democracy lawmakers has also been designated as a terrorist organization and will not be negotiated, and mediation by ASEAN is expected to continue to be difficult.
