Several Tunisian cities witnessed simultaneous fires during the first day of Eid al-Fitr, the most prominent of which was the fire of the ancient Henna market in the governorate of Gabes, yesterday, Monday, in the southeast of the country, in addition to other fires.

The fire did not cause human damage, and its causes have not yet been revealed, while investigations are continuing by the security authorities.

A number of residents of Gabes governorate demonstrated, calling for the dismissal of all officials and holding them accountable.

The official Tunisian News Agency said that civil defense agents in the city of Gabes were able to control the fire that broke out in the Jara market for traditional industries in the city center, and spread to 20 market stores.

Activists on social media circulated photos and videos documenting the burning of the shops and merchandise of merchants in the Jarah market.

In the state of Ben Arous, the civil defense forces were able to completely control the fire that broke out yesterday morning in a used clothes factory in the new industrial zone.

According to an official source, the factory in which the fire broke out was closed two years ago and was used as a warehouse to collect used clothes.

In the state of Bizerte, in the north of the country, a fire broke out yesterday evening, Monday, in the back perimeter of the regional warehouse of the regional company for transporting passengers in Jarzouna, and it was brought under control.

In a related context, the firefighting teams of the Regional Department of Civil Protection in the state of Nabeul managed yesterday to control a fire that broke out in a bar belonging to a hostel on the beach of North Hammamet, without recording human losses, and the causes of the fire are still unknown.
