Biden calls on Congress to approve rapid funding to support Ukraine

US President Joe Biden, during his visit to a site for the production of Javelin anti-armor missiles, called on Congress to quickly approve additional funding worth 33 billion dollars to increase military assistance to Ukraine to enable it to confront the Russian army.

"We need more money to ensure that the United States continues to send weapons and provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine," Biden said from Troy (Alabama, South), where he visited a Lockheed Martin factory.

As the US president appealed to lawmakers to approve this additional $33 billion package, he added, "I am asking Congress to vote quickly on this funding."

Addressing factory workers, Biden said: "These weapons that you have touched, will be in the hands of Ukrainian heroes and will make a difference. This is something you can and should be proud of every day."

"You allow the Ukrainians to fend for themselves, and to be frank, on many occasions it turns the Russian army into a laughingstock," he added.

The US president considered that "this battle will not be cheap, but acquiescing to aggression will be more costly."

He continued, "We built the weapons and equipment that helped defend sovereignty and freedom in Europe years ago. This is happening again today."

It is noteworthy that the Javelin missile is a shoulder-fired anti-tank weapon that has become a symbol of Ukrainian resistance and Western aid, especially American.
