Two people hospitalized

The two victims were taken to Arras hospital for treatment and to undergo examinations.

The gendarmes explained that the explosion was likely to have released dangerous chemical gases such as mustard gas.

The firefighters therefore ensured that this was not the case by carrying out the usual checks.

Explosive devices dating from the First or Second World War are still regularly unearthed.

Their explosion or the toxic fumes they release cause several victims each year.
