(Fighting against New Coronary Pneumonia) Taiwan's vaccine for children under 1 year old with severe illness will be launched on the 2nd

China News Agency, Taipei, May 2nd, the "epidemic epidemic command center" of the radio authority announced on the 2nd that there were 17,801 new locally confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia and 57 imported cases in Taiwan.

Among the confirmed cases, 21 new cases of moderately severe cases (including 3 deaths) were added, and the critically ill patients receiving treatment included a baby girl under 1 year old.

According to media reports such as "United Daily News" and the Central News Agency, the baby girl has a nervous system disease and has not been vaccinated. She developed fever on April 26, and had difficulty breathing on the 28th. She was sent to the doctor and tested positive. Difficulty requiring intubation treatment, is still in intensive care unit treatment.

According to the "epidemic command center" statistics, from January 1 to May 1 this year, a total of 106,912 local cases were confirmed in Taiwan, of which 35 were severe cases, accounting for 0.03%, and 18 died.

On the same day, Taiwan began to vaccinate children under the age of 12 against the new crown, giving priority to the Moderna vaccine.

The "epidemic epidemic command center" agreed on April 20 to vaccinate children aged 6 to 11 with the Moderna vaccine, with half doses each time, two doses separated by 12 weeks.

However, many parents prefer to have their children vaccinated with the BNT childhood vaccine, which is known to have fewer side effects. However, the Taiwan authorities have only recently placed an order for purchase, and there is no exact time when the BNT vaccine will arrive in Taiwan.

As of the 2nd, a total of 150,808 new coronary pneumonia cases have been diagnosed in Taiwan, including 139,311 local cases and 871 deaths.
