"The employees of the State Bureau of Investigation discovered and detained 12 people who are reasonably suspected of preparing sabotage, protests and riots in the Odessa region," the RIA Novosti bureau reported.

As stated in the Ukrainian investigative body, the detainees were preparing protests and "sabotage" on the anniversary of the May 2 events in Odessa.

It is also alleged that the detainees found an arsenal of weapons and ammunition.

Earlier, a resident of Odessa told RIA Novosti that the residents of the city are “waiting for Russia” to achieve justice after the tragedy in the House of Trade Unions.

On May 2, 2014, in Odessa, Ukrainian radicals and nationalists blocked anti-Maidan activists in the House of Trade Unions and set them on fire.

People who tried to get out of the burning building were shot at, and paramedics were not allowed to approach them.

As a result of the incident, 48 people died and more than 200 were injured.
