He stated this in an interview with Politico Europe.

“I think it would be good for at least a few months to allow companies to continue paying in rubles, while we understand the legal framework and the consequences,” he said.

The minister also said that he wants quick and clear confirmation from the European Commission that energy companies can still make payments in rubles.

Earlier, the European Commission said that they consider Russia's demand to pay for gas in rubles "an attempt to divide the European Union."

They also noted that they do not have information about how many EU companies are willing to pay for Russian gas in rubles.
