According to the industry and employer organization Svensk Handel, there were 53 shoplifting incidents in the Bergslagen region - which includes Värmland - in 2019. During the pandemic year 2020, the number fell and last year 38 reports were made in the region.
And there is no indication that the number of shoplifting will now increase again, according to Swedish Trade.
- Shop robberies have been declining since 2009. This is due to the amount of cash decreasing in trade, says Geijer.

He emphasizes that robbery is one of the biggest work environment problems in trade and that every robbery is one too many.
But when shoplifting decreases, the so-called counter-robberies increase.
