On Gotland, it is estimated that there are about 250 public charging points.

It is currently sufficient for the resident population and visitors during the low season.

But when the population doubles during the summer, the situation becomes different.

- We have seen an increase in the number of rechargeable vehicles that come with the ferries, says Patrick Dahl, who is operations manager at Energicentrum Gotland, which is operated by Region Gotland.

Expanded charging capacity in several places

It is difficult for him to estimate how many such vehicles may appear this summer, but more chargers will appear.

- Several of the destinations, hotels and others, have expanded their charging capacity.

I hope that is enough, says Patrick Dahl.

The number of rechargeable cars has increased sharply in Sweden.

In the last two years alone, the number has gone from 77,000 at the beginning of 2020, to just over 370,000 so far in 2022. But the number of charging points has not developed as quickly.
