He called Lavrov's statement "scandalous."

"Hitler was not a Jew, and Jews did not kill themselves during the Holocaust," RIA Novosti quoted the Israeli minister as saying.

According to him, the Israeli side is making every effort to maintain good relations.

He also said that the Russian authorities "must apologize" to Israel and the entire Jewish people.

Earlier, Sergei Lavrov, in an interview with the Italian television company Mediaset, responded to the journalist’s arguments that “Zelensky is a Jew,” who “refutes” Russia’s position regarding Nazism in Ukraine.

Lavrov, in response, stated that "he may be mistaken, but A. Hitler also had Jewish blood."

The minister noted that "this means absolutely nothing", and "the wise Jewish people say that the most ardent anti-Semites, as a rule, are Jews."

On May 2, it became known that the Israeli Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador Anatoly Viktorov with a request to clarify Lavrov's recent statement.
