More than half of all electric car owners state that it must be easier to pay to charge the electric car.

It shows a survey Mobility Sweden has commissioned with 1,000 electric car owners during January-February.

- You have to have lots of apps.

I probably have ten of them, says electric car driver Staffan Lundberg.

There is no common standard for payment.

Debit cards rarely work, but special apps are required for each company where the user must register themselves and their debit card.

There are electric car owners who have 15 apps to be able to charge the car.

46 percent of electric car drivers think it is complicated that there are so many charging operators and that they have different apps for charging and paying.

- I think it's inflexible.

There must be easier ways to charge.

Imagine if you could pay by card or swisha a fixed amount to charge, it would be so much easier, Lundberg says.

Debit card coming soon

And while it is clear what the petrol costs at the gas station, it is unclear what it costs to charge.

It can differ between three and nine kronor / kWh.

Some charging stations also charge for charging time and not the amount of electricity.

25 percent of those surveyed find it difficult to compare prices.

But now there can be improvement.

Before the summer, the car industry will introduce a technical solution with a QR code which means that it will be possible to use debit cards everywhere.

It will be presented within a few weeks, says Mattias Bergman, CEO of Mobility Sweden.

- We are approaching an industry agreement that will make it easier to pay.
