A 53-year-old man threatened to end his life this Friday evening by jumping from a bridge over the N104 in Fontenay-en-Parisis (Val-d'Oise).

Witnesses to the scene alerted the emergency services around 7:30 p.m., prompting the intervention of the gendarmes and firefighters.

When they arrived, the fifty-year-old had already stepped over the parapet, says

The man was eventually rescued.

A 50-year-old in depression

The gendarmes initially tried to reason with the man, who had previously tried to open his veins and was bleeding from the wrist.

The individual suffering from depression, however, was not receptive to their arguments.

Rescuers stopped traffic on the national road and placed a vehicle equipped with a basket under the bridge.

They were thus able to reach the man.

Safe and sound, he was transported to the Gonesse hospital center (Val-d'Oise).
