• Espionage The Government denounces that the cell phones of Pedro Sánchez and Margarita Robles have been intervened by Pegasus in an "external attack"

  • May-June 2021 Espionage against Sánchez and Robles, parallel to the crisis with Rabat and among other countries' complaints against Morocco

The

National Intelligence Center

is going through another delicate moment, immersed in the so-called

Pegasus case

, an issue that started with the alleged wiretapping of Catalan independence supporters and which now revolves around espionage on the President of the Government and the Minister of Defense.

And this situation that makes the atmosphere in the intelligence services more difficult occurs on the eve of the 20th anniversary of his birth.

And to commemorate it, the director of the Center had organized a central act at the intelligence headquarters itself for the next

day 6, Friday

.

The act was planned to be presided over by King Felipe VI.

The invitations had been distributed for weeks.

Representatives of some foreign intelligence services were also going to attend.

But the act has been suspended.

As sources close to the center explain, the 20th anniversary of the birth of the CNI is the first "real victim" of

the Pegasus case

.

The organizers had planned a few words from the Secretary of State director of the CNI and the closing, an intervention by the monarch himself.

In addition, a tribute to the officers fallen in the line of duty.

Some sources close to the center point out that this suspension leaves the director of the CNI in an even weaker role.

She is scheduled to appear in Congress to explain Pegasus's actions and the wiretapping of independence leaders.

But also now, some voices question the CNI for its role in the lack of shielding of the communications of the high personalities of the State.

In any case, Paz Esteban has become the first "hunt" for Pedro Sánchez's government partners and his nationalist allies.

His second target, Defense Minister Margarita Robles.

Esteban, a woman who does not lavish herself in public appearances and much less in interventions, did give a speech on the opening day of the XV Stic ccn-cert conference, just five months ago, in one of the few public appearances.

The director of the CNI, at the inauguration, asked those present: "Take care of yourselves, take care of your digital identity and let's take care of all our data."
