The possibility of running for president Cheol-soo Ahn and Jae-myung Lee is being raised in the by-election to be held together on the local election day on June 1.

The two have yet to give a definitive answer, but interest is high.

Jang Je-won, the president-elect's chief of staff, met with Ahn Cheol-soo, chairman of the transition committee yesterday (1st).

It is known that he delivered opinions inside and outside the party on the by-election in Bundanggap, Seongnam, Gyeonggi.

It is an area that is vacant due to former lawmaker Kim Eun-hye's run for Gyeonggi governor, but there is an interpretation that it may have been that he actually recommended Ahn to run for office.

[Jang Je-won/President-elected Chief of Staff: Chairman Ahn Cheol-soo will tell you about his political career.

I don't think it's polite to argue.] A

key official on the elected side said that although the elected president is not involved in the local elections, candidates from the Gyeonggi area are requesting a run for the by-election of Chairman Ahn, who has strong support in the metropolitan area.

An official from Ahn's side did not close the possibility of running for office, saying, "Chairman Ahn will think about how to support the Gyeonggi regional election, including running for a by-election."

After the announcement of the next government task tomorrow, it seems that Chairman Ahn will decide whether to run for office soon as the transition committee work is virtually completed.

In the case of former Gyeonggi governor Lee Jae-myung, the possibility of running for by-election in Incheon, which was vacated by Song Young-gil, former Democratic Party leader's running for mayor of Seoul, is being raised.

An official from the former branch office explained that the former governor is thinking a lot, and that if there is a strong party-level request, the possibility of running for office will increase.

If the two presidential candidates Ahn Cheol-soo and Lee Jae-myung are confirmed, there is an observation that the coming local elections and the by-elections for the National Assembly will be the second round of the presidential election in name and reality.
