Preoccupation with the phone while driving has caused several traffic accidents in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, during the past years, which resulted in the death and injury of a number of people, and various damages to vehicles, while the Traffic and Patrols Directorate tightens control procedures, and a large number of drivers violated their preoccupation with driving using the phone. .

Abu Dhabi Police confirmed that making a phone call, or receiving a call or text message while driving, leads to several problems on the road, the most important of which is distracting the driver from attention, which may result in deviation between lanes of the road, slowing the speed of the vehicle, disrupting traffic and overtaking the signal. red traffic lights, and committing a number of serious traffic violations and accidents, leading to death or serious injuries.

Abu Dhabi Police classified being busy with the phone while driving as a dangerous offense, and not tolerating the implementation of the violation stipulated in Ministerial Resolution No. 178 of 2017, regarding traffic control rules and procedures, as it set a fine of 800 dirhams and four points for distraction from the road while driving a vehicle using the phone. In the same context, Abu Dhabi Police urged drivers to abide by the traffic law, and to reduce speeds.
