One of the two bills that phased out the prosecution's investigative powers has been processed earlier, and the remaining amendments are also expected to cross the threshold of the National Assembly tomorrow (3rd).

The clash between the ruling and opposition parties continues, and the people's power has pressed President Moon Jae-in to exercise the veto if the bill passes the plenary session of the National Assembly tomorrow.

Reporter Han Se-hyeon reports.

<Reporter> The

Democratic Party has asked National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seok to present a proposal for the constitution of the Special Committee on Judicial Reform to discuss the establishment of the Serious Crime Investigation Agency at the plenary session tomorrow.

This is to speed up the establishment of a 'heavy water agency' that will be in charge of investigating serious crimes by promptly launching a special committee on private affairs.

[Park Hong-geun/Democratic Party Leader: We will deal with the criminal procedure law at the plenary session, quickly form a special judicial reform committee, and faithfully carry out the remaining tasks, such as the establishment of a heavy water office that meets the wishes of the

people.] The power of the people will meet with Chairman Park separately .

It clearly conveyed the opposite meaning.

[Kwon Seong-dong/People's Power Floor Leader: I made a request (to the Speaker of the National Assembly) not to bring the proposal to the plenary session with respect to the composition of the private special committee, which the Democratic Party unilaterally passed by the steering committee.]

The plosive sound continued even over the time of the plenary session.

The People's Power pressured Chairman Park to hold the plenary session scheduled for 10 a.m. at 2 p.m. as usual.

This is to prevent the government from promulgating a bill that was processed in the morning on the same day by delaying the regular cabinet meeting to the afternoon.

He also urged President Moon Jae-in not to postpone the cabinet meeting and to exercise his veto power when the bill is passed.

[Yoo Sang-beom / Rep. of People's Power: If President Moon Jae-in receives this request, isn't he admitting that he is a scarecrow himself...

.]

However, a high-ranking official at the Blue House said, "It seems that the State Council meeting will be held in the afternoon."

Accordingly, the Prosecutor's Office Act and the amendment bill to the Criminal Procedure Act, which reduced the subject of direct investigation by the prosecution to corruption and the economy, and significantly limited the police's complementary investigation power, are likely to pass the National Assembly.
