The evacuation of civilians from a steelworks in Mariupol, a city in southern Ukraine that was under siege by Russian troops, has begun in earnest.

The Russian army is strengthening its offensive against the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine, but it is known that the operation has not made much progress.

"The evacuation of Azoustal civilians has begun," Ukrainian President Zelensky said on social media.



About 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers and civilians have been evacuated from the Azoustal Works, built during the Soviet era.



It is said that several parts of the Azoustal Works were destroyed by the concentrated Russian attack, and they are suffering from a lack of fuel as water and electricity are cut off.
