The Investigative Committee opened two criminal cases after the shelling of residential areas of Donetsk by the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

“The military investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of Russia initiated two criminal cases against servicemen of the 54th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the report says.

As specified, the case was initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art.

356 of the Criminal Code of Russia (Ill-treatment of the civilian population; the use in an armed conflict of means and methods prohibited by an international treaty of Russia).

On May 1, the DPR representative office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) of the ceasefire regime reported that Ukrainian troops shelled the territory of the republic 12 times over the past day.

Earlier, the chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed investigators to open a criminal case and investigate the shelling of a monastery in the Lugansk People's Republic by Ukrainian nationalists.
