The Cameroonian star's package to start the series in Florida has not yet been formalized by his club, but is not a surprise given the nature of his injury.

His return to the courts for the third or fourth game in Philadelphia, however, is viewed with optimism, ESPN said citing sources within the team.

Right now, Embiid has to get out of concussion protocol first.

He will also need to see a doctor mid-week for his orbital fracture.

Game N.3 will take place Friday in Philadelphia.

The pivot was injured by an elbow from his compatriot of the Raptors Pascal Siakam last Thursday, during the last quarter of the match N.6 won in Toronto, synonymous with qualification for the semi-finals.

The interior, who is among the finalists for the title of best player (MVP) of the season, had already suffered from a similar injury around the left eye in 2018. He had to have surgery, and his absence had lasted three weeks.

Embiid had already been injured during the N.3 match against the Raptors, victim of a torn ligament in his right thumb, but the player and his team preferred to wait until the end of the play-offs to consider surgery.

On the Heat side, point guard Kyle Lowry will also not play the opener on Monday, as he is insufficiently recovered from a left hamstring injury.
