Six Katyusha rockets landed on Sunday evening in Erbil Governorate in Iraqi Kurdistan, in an area adjacent to an oil refinery, according to what the region's anti-terrorist agency announced, in an attack that caused limited damage.

And the French Press Agency quoted Iraqi sources as saying that two missiles fell inside the refinery, specifically in the sixth station, and reported minor damage due to a fire that broke out, but "the situation was quickly brought under control."

The missiles landed about 5 kilometers from the Korokosk Oil Refinery, which is one of the most important refineries in the northwest of Erbil Governorate.

In a statement, the Counter-Terrorism Service stated that 6 missiles fell near the Zab River in the Khabat district of Erbil governorate, "and did not cause any human or material damage," and no party has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

The Counter-Terrorism Service in the region stated that the missiles were launched from the borders of Bartella district in the Hamdaniya district in the neighboring Nineveh Governorate, which is under the authority of the federal government.

The same refinery was targeted in early April with an attack with 3 Katyusha rockets, and no party has claimed responsibility for it.

The Erbil governorate, including the Khabat district, has previously been subjected to missile and drone attacks, targeting several targets, American military and oil, among others.
