Twenty-one Arab countries announced that the second Monday of May 2022 will be the first day of Eid al-Fitr for the year 1443 AH, while the Comoros State said that the feast falls on Tuesday.

The Saudi Royal Court stated that Monday is the beginning of the month of Shawwal, corresponding to the first day of Eid Al-Fitr.

In Morocco, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs announced that Monday will be the first day of Eid al-Fitr in the Kingdom, and the ministry said in a statement, that it had been proven legitimate to see the crescent of the month of Shawwal.

Morocco was among 4 Arab countries, along with Jordan, Oman and the Comoros, in which the crescent of the month of Ramadan appeared on the third of this April, unlike most Arab countries that preceded it.

Eid will also fall, on Monday, in Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Bahrain, Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Mauritania, Libya, Iraq and Somalia, according to official data.

Thus, the number of Arab countries in which Eid al-Fitr falls on Monday has reached 21, compared to one Arab country in which the feast begins on Tuesday, and they are the Comoros, in which the Dar Al-Iftaa announced that Monday is the completion of the month of Ramadan after the sighting of the Shawwal crescent was not proven.

Eid comes this year, in light of the lifting of measures to confront the Corona virus in many Arab countries, other than the restrictions of the past two years.

The majority of Arab countries decided to allow Eid al-Fitr prayers to be performed in mosques and squares without health restrictions linked to the Corona virus, while the Sultanate of Oman stipulated obtaining the vaccine.

In the Islamic world, several countries, including Indonesia, Turkey and Malaysia, announced Monday the first day of Eid al-Fitr, while Pakistan announced that Monday is the completion of the month of Ramadan, so that Tuesday will be the first of the month of Shawwal and the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
