British Tory MP Neil Parish resigns after allegations of watching porn on his smartphone in Parliament.

The 65-year-old politician bowed to pressure on Saturday to resign as MP for Tiverton and Honiton.

Conservatives in his Devon constituency say they support Parish's decision to vacate his seat.

Thank you for your service over the past twelve years.

He had already been suspended by his conservative faction on Friday.

At the same time, Parish admitted to the BBC that he had viewed the pornographic material on his mobile phone.

The first time he looked for tractors on the Internet, he came across a website with a "very similar name".

"I looked at it a bit, which I shouldn't have done," said the deputy, who is a farmer by birth.

The second time he looked at the material consciously.

"What I did was absolutely wrong," Parish said.

He apologizes for that.

On Friday, Parish wrote on his website that he was making himself available to the parliamentary ethics commissioner "in light of recent allegations in connection with the use of a mobile phone by a member of parliament".

He promised to cooperate with any conceivable investigation into the allegations.

He intends to continue fulfilling his obligations as MP for the constituency of Tiverton and Honiton in south-west England.

However, if he is found guilty in the inquest, he will resign, he assured.

When asked by journalists if he might have accidentally opened something on his smartphone, he said, "I did."

Several opposition figures had urged Parish to resign, including the longest-serving female Labor MP, Harriet Harman.

"This is a new low for the House of Commons," the former Women's Secretary told the BBC.

"If this is what he did, then he should resign from Parliament immediately," she said of the allegations against Parish.

Parish chaired the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee in the House of Commons.

The member of parliament had already commented on the allegations on Wednesday - at that time it was not even known to the public that the accusation of watching porn in Parliament was directed against himself.

He expects Heaton-Harris to conduct a "thorough investigation" into the allegations, Parish told GB News on Wednesday.

He denied that there was a sexism problem in the British Parliament.

The UK Parliament's Complaints Office is currently investigating allegations of sexual misconduct against 56 MPs.

Most recently, the ruling Tory party was at the center of these allegations.

The Mail on Sunday newspaper has reported that several Conservative MPs have accused Labor MP Angela Rayner of trying to distract Prime Minister Boris Johnson by deliberately displaying her legs.
