After the release of several important political prisoners this week in Sudan, diplomacy is slowly regaining its rights.

A delegation of the "Troika" bringing together important countries of the European Union and the United States, was in Khartoum, Friday, April 29, to meet the military junta and the civil opposition.

At the end of his visit, a statement called for the formation of a civilian government.

A prospect that always seems distant.

Sudan could lose "

billions of dollars in development aid from the World Bank

", its agreement with the IMF and 19 billion in debt cancellation.

This is what awaits the military junta if it does not make “

immediate progress towards the formation of a transitional civilian government

 ”.

The communiqué concluding the Troika's visit to Khartoum is clear: the United States, the European Union, France, the United Kingdom, Germany and Norway will not accept any "

agreement or government

 " that "

lacks credibility

with the Sudanese and the international community.

Its support, recalled the Troika, goes to the dialogue process initiated by the UN, the African Union and the East African regional organization (IGAD), which announced a meeting of Sudanese political actors from 10 to 12 May.

However, the problem is that at this time, the opposition still refuses to dialogue with the military and political forces that supported their October 25 coup.

One of the leaders of the Freedom and Change Forces coalition told Radio Dabanga that he refused any initiative that would legitimize the putsch.

And this is also the position expressed by the Resistance Committees of Khartoum, the spearheads of popular mobilization.
