This is not the first time that Russian aircraft have violated Swedish airspace since Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

No later than the beginning of March, four Russian warplanes entered Swedish territory east of Gotland.

This time the violation took place south of Blekinge.

- This is something that we have expected could happen, ie that the Russian side wants to show the muscles due to the fact that we are now approaching NATO more and more, says Jörgen Elfving.

According to Air Force Chief Carl-Johan Edström, there is currently no indication that the violation was deliberate - it may have been a mistake.

Jörgen Elfving also speculates that it may be unintentional, if someone has made a mistake for some reason.

- But it can also be intentional in the light of our NATO debate.

In such cases, it is a signal, says Jörgen Elfving.

"We have to get used to it"

According to Elfving, there is currently no cause for concern as a result of the violations.

- They (Russia, editor's note) want to try to scare us both with rhetoric and in practical action such as this violation.

But on the other hand, Russia is fully occupied with Ukraine and has no resources to invent anything else in other directions.

Elfving also says that there may be more violations of Swedish territory both in the air and at sea.

- My opinion is that this is something we have to get used to.

That is, Russia will in various ways mark its dissatisfaction with our approach to NATO, both verbally and through insults and other things.
