There are not just long queues to work out after the pandemic restrictions are released.

The queues for making ID cards at the Swedish Tax Agency have also grown.

In Västerbotten, the queues during the spring have only gotten longer and longer.

In April alone, 270 ID cards were issued at the state service center in Umeå.

It is the only place in Västerbotten where you can get an ID card which is an alternative to driving licenses and passports.

- We have been full all April and May is fully booked as well.

Now we have released more times, says Abuipar Mohammed, who is the administrator and ID card manager in Umeå.

Extra times can be released

In the past year, there have been few ID cards for foreign citizens who are only registered in Sweden, something that has now changed.

That's an explanation for the queues.

But one reason is also that many people miss that you have to bring a certifier if you do not have a valid ID such as a passport or driver's license.

- Hopefully it will get better in July or August.

Right now it is full, but it is possible to check online if even more extra hours have been released, says Abuipar Mohammed.
