Kristin Lönnsjö works as a teacher and lives with her husband and three children in Tidaholm.

She also runs an adventure campsite, a project that takes up almost all of her free time.

- You probably have to be a little crazy, she answers the question of how she manages.

One of Sweden's smallest

The campsite, which is located just outside Tidaholm center, by the calm river Tidan, is perhaps one of Sweden's smallest.

But despite that, it is well attended and in the wake of the pandemic, interest in this type of holiday seems to be hotter than ever.

- We are pretty good at events here in Tidaholm, but we need something continuous that happens all the time.

The small adventure campsite is just one of all the campsites in Sweden that seem to have a really good summer to look forward to.

According to new statistics from Statistics Sweden and the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth, interest in camping increased in Sweden in 2021. The number of camping nights in Sweden decreased to very high levels for the industry in 2020, but last year the interest was almost as high as before the pandemic.

I think more people want to experience Sweden

Kristin seems to have simply jumped on the camping train at just the right time.

- I think there are more people who want to see places in Sweden.

We have such unique parts of our country that I think you should see.

Kristin and other campsites are now expecting a lot of pressure ahead of the summer.

When she talks to her industry colleagues, they say that the camping bookings are over.

Whether the interest in camping last year was a pandemic effect remains to be seen, but all indications are that interest will increase this year as well.
