It has now been just over a month since the devastating fire in the southern hospital area in Ängelholm.

It has been a work of demolition and decontamination.

New procurements and planning will be made.

- It is a fairly extensive work, says Mats Nilsson.

Five buildings have burned down and two remain.

The newer building is in better condition but damaged by smoke.

The other is worse.

Large area that burned

In total, 7,000 square meters have disappeared.

Many of them are municipal activities, the region also rented some.

- We plan to build up what has burned down, but we are waiting for the investigation, says Mats Nilsson.

There are plans on campus

The plot consists of two properties, one owned by the municipality and one purchased by the real estate company Backahill.

- It is an exciting development area and I see in the long run that it will be a place for Campus area and new housing, says Robin Holmberg (M), chairman of the municipal board in Ängelholm.

Whether the houses that have burned down will be rebuilt is currently uncertain.

- We will see, there must be room for some form of public activity, but we will return to the detailed planning work, says Robin Holmberg.
